Lester Savit attends UCI Paul Merage School Business Outlook 2012

On January 19 , 2012, One LLP partner Lester J. Savit attended the University of California, Irvine Paul Merage School’s Business Outlook for 2012, an annual event with over 700 attendees. Mr. Savit serves as chair of the Executive Committee of the Corporate Partners Program for the school, and also sits on the Dean’s Advisory Board. This year’s event featured opening remarks by Tallia Hart, President/CEO of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, and keynote presentations by Andrew Policano, Ph.D., Dean of the Paul Merage School of Business, and Jennifer M. Granholm, former Governor of Michigan (elected 2002, re-elected 2006). Dean Policano focused his talk on the ratio of income to debt for the United States over the last few decades, and comparisons to the current economic conditions of selected European countries. He also predicted long-term remedial measures that will need to be taken. Governor Granholm shared some of the lessons learned during the severe economic downturn in her state. She emphasized that the U.S. government needs to work with the business community to effectively compete in global trade.
