Kurt Schuettinger

Kurt Schuettinger is a partner at One LLP, where he specializes in litigation and appeals involving trademarks, trade dress, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets. He has 17 years of experience handling complex, high-stakes disputes featured in Law360 and Bloomberg Law, and was recently praised by the Chief Judge of the Eastern District of Texas—after a multi-week jury trial—for exemplifying the professionalism and civility expected of trial counsel: counsel “embodies the civility all counsel should strive for when practicing in the Eastern District of Texas.”

Kurt has successfully briefed and argued appeals cited in leading treatises and law journals, including McCarthy on Trademarks; Callmann on Unfair Competition, Trademarks and Monopolies; American Law Reports; The Trademark Reporter; Annotated Patent Digest; and Patent Law Fundamentals. Notably, he served as lead counsel in the trial and both federal appeals in a case involving one of two rhinestone Baldwin grand pianos once owned by Liberace—a matter cited in the Journal of Tort Law, Corpus Juris Secundum: Contracts, and American Jurisprudence: Proof of Facts.

Kurt has represented some of America’s most iconic companies in litigation and TTAB matters nationwide. He once even took an elephant ride from a deposition in Thailand involving a trademark infringement case concerning medical products, demonstrating his adaptability to international matters.

Before joining One LLP, Kurt worked at a national 300-lawyer firm and at a high-end boutique IP firm that partnered with law enforcement on one of the largest U.S. seizures of counterfeit goods in history. He also served as contract in-house counsel for a Fortune 100 company’s Global IP Department for several years, collaborating with counsel worldwide to protect and monetize IP assets.

In law school, Kurt finished third out of 64 law schools in a national moot court competition—losing to Georgetown Law School by a single point—and received the award for being the top moot court (appellate advocacy) student in his graduating class.

Kurt has served on the advisory board of the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities for nearly a decade.In his spare time, he writes for fishing and golf magazines, and he was a finalist on Season 2 of the TV game show The 1% Percent (Fox & Amazon Prime).
